Abstract

This work aims to satisf:,: the assessment of this two decades ci,ii conflict in p;1geri Payarn. Various methods have been employed aimed at assessment of Social and Economic effects of this civil conflict from 1983 2005 that developed, tested and explored the attributes of the outcomes of the field research conducted through: questionnaire, observations, and interview methods. The categorv of the population the researcher has taken included: between the age of 15 44 years. This included the young (children), and the elderly. However, keen interest has been put on gender balance. The social and economic effects of this ci'il two decades ci,·il conflict ranged from simple effects to complex effects. Socially, the results have been found out as: it brought frustrations to the de-factos and the de-jure families, loss of tn1dition:il heritages, made people grumble over issues of land, phy·sical infrastructures were terribly destroved and others. Economically it has been found out as: 1t affected susrnmah!e agriculture, natural and animal resources have been plu1,dered, displaced the ;1hle l:1hor f'orces to other p;irts of the world, it deprived the IDP/C (t adis) of 1heir rights to more others discussed. However, the following policy recommendations if the governmcn1 ip of land and 111,Hl)' NGOs, local community and International community and others will take in post conflict resettle111ent and integration of Pageri Payam, it will be much more easier for the local and the returning population to get back on their feet in the post conflict development of pagcri Payam. The government should ensure that tn1ined sccuri personnel are in place to enforce laws and orders by recruiting the skilled man power rnto police forces and other organs in Pageri Payam, basic structures such as schools, hospitals, others should be put in place in Pageri Payam through training teachers, health workers, agricultural extension officers :rnd others ;is discussed in this resc':ird1 pm,1,·ci
